Lieutenant Colonel ANDREA M. HUNWICK

Lieutenant Colonel Andrea M. Hunwick is the Deputy Commandant of The Judge Advocate General’s School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. The faculty and staff are responsible for the education and training of approximately 26,000 legal professionals and senior leaders throughout the Air and Space Forces and the Department of Defense.

Lieutenant Colonel Hunwick previously served as the Deputy Director of Staff for The Judge Advocate General, the Staff Judge Advocate and the Deputy Commander of the 426th Air Base Squadron in Stavanger, Norway, and the Air Force Working Group member to DoD’s Joint Service Committee on Military Justice. She has deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Enduring Freedom, and SOUTHCOM Exercise New Horizons. She is a 2025 graduate of the National War College where her team briefed the Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States and the National Security Council Senior Director on Counterterrorism on their post-Assad Syria strategy.

Lieutenant Colonel Hunwick entered active duty through the Direct Appointment Program in October 2009. Prior to commissioning, she worked as a Public Defender in Will County, Illinois. She is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
