Colonel MARK D. HOOVER

Colonel Mark D. Hoover currently serves as Commandant of The Judge Advocate General’s School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. He leads a team of military and civilian professionals providing legal education and training for approximately 20,000 legal professionals, commanders, and other leaders throughout the Air and Space Forces and the Department of Defense.

Colonel Hoover was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, but grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1995 and received his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1998. He was commissioned in 1999 through the Direct Appointment Program and is licensed to practice law in Kansas.

He has served three times as Staff Judge Advocate at the Center and Wing levels, as well as a Numbered Air Force and Wing/Base Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, a Major Command action officer, an Air Staff action officer at the Pentagon, and an Air Force Intern. Colonel Hoover has also deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH (2001), IRAQI FREEDOM (2007), and ENDURING FREEDOM (2010), as well as the International Security Assistance Force (2013).
