Welcome to The Judge Advocate General’s School

The Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School is located at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Our talented staff carries on a proud tradition that began in 1950 of providing the highest quality education and training to our students. The JAG School goes well beyond the basics and offers timely, relevant courses for all legal professionals including military and civilian attorneys and paralegals to enhance their legal education including resident courses, distance education, podcasts, and publications.

2025 National Security Law Writing Competition

The Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School (AFJAGS) is pleased to announce its tenth annual writing competition for students, practitioners, academics and policy-makers to provide unique perspectives and insights on matters of national security law.

Topic: DoD Employment and Countering of Drones in the Contemporary National Security Environment
